I have decided to read Beloved by Toni Morrison. I have decided to read this book because it sounds like an emotional, empowering book yet very creepy and supernaturally compelling. I have not started reading it quite yet, but plan to read the first few chapters tonight. I really hope I like this book as much as i liked A Clockwork Orange, and I really hope this book can hold my attention. I have seemed to have that problem a lot lately.

3-23-11 So I have finished A Clockwork Orange, and it was by far the best book I have ever read. It was full of excitement, brutal violence, and raw descriptions. It ends with Alex being successfully treated, and released. He goes home to find out that someone has been renting his bedroom at home, and his parents not expecting him to have ever gotten out. He turns to the streets, where he runs into the homeless man that he beats up in the beginning of the book. The man then beats up Alex, and when the police come, he sees that the two officers are his old partners in crime. They end up beating him into a bloody pulp. He is crawling in the woods trying to find help, and he comes upon a house. He goes to the door, and finds out it is the house of the man who's wife he had raped and killed before he got arrested. I really like how the whole book turned around at the end. The theme of this book was for sure "What goes around comes around." I always have found it interesting how karma works.
I am now halfway through A Clockwork Orange. This book is quite difficult because it is full of British slang terms. This book is about a 15 year old boy, Alex DeLarge, and his droogs, (friends), who commit heinous crimes. These crimes include rape, theft, trespassing, assault and vandalism. They simply are motivated by the thrill and the money. I chose to read this book because I LOVE the movie. I am actually surprised how similar the book and the movie are. It's almost like the movie is reading the book. I love how it's so much the same thing. I really like how descriptive the book is. This book is so raw and violent, and 100% exciting. I really enjoy the psychological aspect of both the book and the movie. After Alex's friends turn on him, he gets arrested and he is then chosen to be a guinea pig for a group of doctors. He gets strapped to a chair, and has his eyes held open. He is then forced to watch very violent films. This is all in hopes that he will turn his life around and not want to commit these crimes. I am very excited to see how the end of the book will be explained. I enjoy comparing it to my favorite movie :)

Blog #2 I currently not reading a book for this class, but as soon as I finish the book I am reading, I intend on starting A Clockwork Orange. I currently am reading Kurt Cobain: An Autobiography. I am reading this because he is one of the most influential people in my life. I look up to him for his odd sense of wisdom and because of how he is not afraid to be himself. In this book, there are many exerts from his journal. He often calls himself a "freak" or a "misfit." It is truly inspiring to hear his story of success.
January 14, 2011. Frankly, I have no favorite books.Regardless, I have been reading my whole life, and I enjoy reading sometimes, but I just can't seem to find that I have any favorites. There are however, books I enjoy more than others. I really like the book Crank. I like reading anything by Ellen Hopkins because she is a genius. she can really connect to the reader. I also read anything by Jodi Picoult.
